Talent is an illusion born out of the ability to recognize patterns. Patterns that emerge from succeeding and failing to perform a given task. Therefore, all talent is born from the same ability even though the manifestation of these may be completely unique one from the other. In essence, someone with a keen ability to recognize these patterns may become talented in only a small number of days following performance of a given task; while someone with a weakened ability to recognize these patterns may take years, or even decades to develop talent to the same extent. This is why individuals that are viewed as being highly “talented”, especially those that are of a young age, are often talented in more areas than one. It is important to remember, however, that while a few are gifted with this ability innately, it can also be strengthened in others through training, preferably by a mentor.
